WVSeniors.org Community Guidelines

To help ensure that WVSeniors.org will continue to be a helpful and friendly site for its members, we have developed a few guidelines to which we would like our members to adhere.

Guidelines

  1. You may not post or transmit on WVSeniors.org any abusive, inaccurate, defamatory, obscene, or illegal material or any material that contains a virus. Use your best judgment and treat others as you wish to be treated yourself.
  2. You may not post any advertising or solicitation (Spam) in chat or discussions. However, you are welcome to post advertisements and business and/or product information on your personal page at WVSeniors.org.
  3. You may not submit copyrighted material if you do not personally hold the copyright to the material, unless the submission constitutes a "Fair Use," or is in the public domain.
  4. Respect others in the WVSeniors Community. Do not commit personal attacks or defamation against others at WVSeniors.org. Doing so will be grounds for account deletion.
  5. Posting or transmission of any material that violates any federal, state, or local law or regulation is absolutely prohibited.
  6. WVSeniors.org reserves the right to reproduce any material posted on or sent to the site. However, private messages in chats and emails are not recorded and will not be reprinted at any time.
  7. WVSeniors.org is not obligated to screen material posted by members, but reserves the right in its sole discretion, to review and edit or delete any postings or messages that WVSeniors.org in its sole discretion, finds infringing, offensive, abusive, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise unacceptable, and to inactivate any account that has been used to violate the WVSeniors.org terms of service, membership agreement, or community guidelines.

"Netiquette"

  1. When participating in the chat rooms or discussions, it is important to stay on topic with the group. If you have comments on different topics, try to find areas where those interests are shared.
  2. It is important to be honest in your interactions. Pretending to be another user in chat or making a post in someone else's name, even as a joke, is poor Netiquette.
  3. Please be careful how you use emoticons or capital letters. Remember that using all caps can be considered shouting.
  4. Flooding a chat room with repeat messages, cross posting in different discussions, and sending too much mail can be confusing to everyone and cause people to lose interest in the discussion. Try to keep your messages simple and to the point, and in the proper place.

If someone harasses you in a public area of WVSeniors.org in violation of these guidelines, please let us know. Copy and paste the offending content into our contact form (http://www.wvseniors.org/contact.asp).
